Over the past 20 years I have had the opportunity to work with a diverse group of students in a
variety of settings, from inner-city to rural suburban, from privileged to disadvantaged. Because
of these experiences, I have developed effective teaching techniques and instructional methods
which allow me to educate all styles of learners in fun & engaging environments, promoting art
appreciation, creativity, confidence building and the exploration of ideas.
I have taught AP art. Drawing Painting, Ceramics, 3d design, Photography, Technology
including; Animation, Filmmaking, Web Design.
Students in my art classes are expected to not only make art, but to read about it, write about it,
and comprehend it in the form of quizzing and project development based on the acquired
skills. This can be applied to all students with adjustments made for skill levels and age.
My certifications in mild moderate disabilities as well as my certification in art therapy
have helped immensely in the art room as well as the behavioral schools that I have worked in.
Prior to moving to RI in 2007, I lived and worked in NYC for 17 years, where I organized
community art events including extensive and elaborate mural making, as well as teaching at
the Art Students League from 1995 to 2000.
Beyond my artistic endeavors, I worked as an independent consultant for a Boston based
environmental printing company for 17 years. My love of nature and the environment is strongly
reflected in my art lesson plans which encourage students to learn, study and reflect upon our
human impact on nature and the environment.
I am a professional artist as well, my primary medium being painting and encaustic painting, my
work can be viewed at the Whaling Museum in New Bedford MA. and through my artist website
